Selection

Breeding at our Rich Harvest Farm is an important part of our lingonberry growing process, aimed at improving varieties and increasing their yield, taste and resistance to diseases and pests. Here's how we do the selection:

Selection of parent plants: We carefully select parent plants from our best lingonberry varieties. These plants serve as the starting material for creating new varieties.

Pollination Process: We control the pollination process by transferring pollen from the flowers of parent plants to target flowers to create new hybrids.

Selection of progeny: After pollination and fruit formation, we carefully analyze the progeny. Those plants are selected that have the best characteristics, such as berry size, yield, taste and sustainability.

Testing of New Varieties: New varieties are tested over several years, during which they are exposed to various growing conditions and analyzed for their production and taste qualities.

Propagation, introduction: Those varieties that have successfully passed the tests and meet our quality criteria are propagated and introduced into our cultivation at a commercial level.
